Welcome to the website of the 18th annual Symposium of the Melton Foundation! The Symposium will be held from August 3-9, 2009 in the environs of the BMS College of Engineering and BMS Institute of Technology in Bangalore, India. The theme of this year's symposium is navarīthi. The word navarīthi means ‘innovation’; the word is made up of two parts – nava denotes ‘newness’ and rīthi denotes ‘path’. Another interesting facet of navarīthi is a pun on the word nava: it means both ‘new’ and ‘nine’, given that the symposium in India is happening in 2009! The theme shall examine the various aspects associated with ‘innovation’ across a wide spectrum of fields ranging from Business to Energy to Fine Arts. Thus the innovation theme will be developed as a common learning platform for all Melton Fellows, university faculty and members of the Foundation develop a shared understanding of ‘innovation’ in collaboration with experts from around the world. Welcome to BMS, Bangalore! |
